NAU Blome Building
Flagstaff, AZ

A historic building, the NAU Blome Building, needed an update to meet the new requirements for teaching and learning of this prestigious university.

The existing interior was unsalvageable, so it was removed. Paul Winslow, FAIA, led the design and restoration team  to adapt it into flexible offices with an open office system. Corridors matched the original layout. The air-conditioning system required lower ceilings which were raised at perimeter to avoid covering the historic windows. The restored exterior also added much needed site parking.

Paul Winslow, FAIA, was the architect of record and led the programming process to identify the new needs for the space as well as identify the historic elements that needed to be preserved. He also led the design process, and oversaw the construction administration while working at Orcutt/Winslow.
