ABOUT KALI MOTA
Kali was born into the construction industry where she worked for many years. She brings years of experience in efficiently managing and coordinating construction projects. Her organizational skills are the backbone of the firm, particularly in relation to our Innovation Think Tank and programming process. She has worked on numerous project types gaining experience in architecture and interior design, from adaptive-reuse, mixed-use residential, mixed-use office, hospitality, and educational projects. Her experience ranges from minor interior remodels to multi-million new construction projects.
Under Paul Winslow’s, FAIA, tutelage she has sharpened her skills in architectural pre-design and programming services, developing a sense of functionality and creative design solutions. Her direct involvement with the design team from programming through construction documents, to construction administration, allows her to ensure the client’s goals and needs are met. She is used to working in a collaborative design process environment from the beginning to the end with the consultants, general contractor, and client to help evaluate different options and ultimately identify and develop the most appropriate solution for the client.
She also leads the firms’ technology efforts through a 3D software, using it as a design tool to review the design with the client, general contractor, and consultants at different stages of the design process. This enables a more efficient workflow with the consultants and general contractor; and allows for a clearer design intent.
Her focus on change and future trends resonate in the firm’s approach to design and their Innovation Think Tank, a facilitated design thinking process to help solve complexity in today’s age.
Her approach to problem solving and design starts with research and analysis of present and future trends, this in turns adds value to the client. By bringing fresh ideas to the table the client is able to evaluate and identify the best option. Having worked on several Facilities Master Plans for both public and private clients, she is sensitive to user specific solutions, context, community and future trends.
